Text Box: Mileage Club
Mileage Club is back! Students can earn Toe Tokens for completing 5 miles worth of activities at home, before school, and during PE. There will be three active field trips planned for students (and their families) that complete 25 or more miles each marking period. We will hike Camel’s Hump in October, go ice skating in January, and go swimming in June. Activity logs are available in the gym, front office, and on the Mileage Club link.

Text Box: PE Web Fun
Each week I will put a question in this box from this web site or from a related link. Students can receive extra credit for e-mailing me the answer at cbaitz@wdsdvt.org or by putting the answer in my Web Fun folder located in the gym.

Text Box: Fall Trimester
Kindergarten: During the fall trimester, kindergarten students start to learn what PE is about. They learn how to play in a safe manner, explore the uses of many types of equipment, find out some different ways that their bodies can move, and develop a sense for class expectations.

Grades 1-4: We will be reviewing equipment use and class expectations early in the fall. Time will be spent on age appropriate team building and cooperative play activities. Students will review spring fitness scores, set new goals, work on their fitness goals, and participate in their fall fitness testing. Additionally, first and second grade students will develop basic equipment skills, explore movement concepts, continue to develop locomotor skills, and increase their knowledge in game strategies.
Third and fourth grade students will continue to develop equipment skills and apply the skills to modified game situations which will require application of movement concepts and locomotor skills learned in earlier years.

Grading: Students in grades 1-4 will be assessed in the following areas:
1. Works toward improving skills and knowledge in the areas of lifelong activities and physical fitness. Please note that students are assessed on individual progress toward meeting standards.
2. Student self-assessment of following the School Codes: Being safe, respectful, making good choices, and trying my best.
3. Comes prepared for class. We have extra sneakers for students to borrow, however students miss the first 5 minutes of class finding sneakers that fit. Please help your child to remember their sneakers on PE days.
